David is married, father to two grown up children and the Managing Director of Securus Storage Services Limited. David also holds directorships with property development firms Steadco Limited, DQM Limited and also the leisure pusuits company Wow Factor Adventures Limited.
David is a serving Governor for the Kesgrave High School and has been vetted by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). David is also a PADI IDC Staff Instructor and teaches PADI scuba diving courses to students at the Kesgrave High School, the University of Essex Sub Aqua Club and Galaxsea Divers in Ipswich.
David teaches scuba diving purely as a hobby and certifies around 50 students every year. David is a keen conservationist and is keen to do as much as possible to preserve our natural resources above and below the water.
David is excited about the future and has many plans for the businesses as the market places shift and adapt to the pressures of the economy. David says "Carefull investment in our staff and systems, plus adding value to what we do is the key. Keeping a clear focus on what we are trying to achieve and following our plan means we have what it takes to be the best at what we do".
Between 1980 and 1988 David lived and worked in Saudi Arabia as a Soils & Materials Engineer. In 1985, while living in Jeddah (with the Red Sea on his doorstep!) he qualified as an Open Water Diver.
In 1993 David decided that it was time to strike out on his own and he set up a business partnership called Databond. In 2002 the partnership ended and Securus Storage Services Limited took control of the business and has seen steady growth in the intervening years.
In 2004, with the Securus brand on a firm footing, David decided it was time to take scuba diving more seriously and qualified as a PADI Open Water Instructor (PADI #632836).
David is currently rated as a PADI IDC Staff Instructor and is working towards his Master Instructor rating. David is also an Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor, a First Aid at Work (FAW) Instructor and Assessor and also an EFR Manual Handling Instructor.
In March 2007 David completed the Technical Diving International (TDI) Advanced Nitrox course and the TDI Decompression Procedures course which qualifies him to dive using planned staged decompression to a depth of 45m. David is also a qualified DSAT Gas Blender.
In May 2008 David completed the Royal Yachting Association Navigator, Day Skipper and VHF Radio Courses which allows him to Skipper any vessel in Coastal (tidal) waters, not exceeding 24m and 80GT.
In September 2008 David completed the TDI Inspiration Air Diluent CCR Diver course and is qualified to dive with a closed circuit rebreather to 40m.
David is hoping to dive the HMS Victoria and then hopefully the HMHS Britannic in the next two or three years. However, to do so he will be looking to build up his rebreather hours and ultimately complete the TDI Advanced Mixed Gas Diluent CCR Diver course.
